My name is Oscar Stuttgen and I am a local Minneapolis entrepreneur, commercial photographer and digital image specialist. I began my studies at the University of Wisconsin-Stout for communications and later earned a degree in Digital Imaging and Photography in Minneapolis. My current business is called GlueBug. GlueBug is a fresh, new take on social media marketing, if you are a business owner and don’t have the time or know-how of marketing your company or brand then GlueBug is definitely something you should check out. GlueBug works on building the online presence of businesses through Facebook, Twitter, Email Marketing, Website revamping and other means based on the direct customized needs of the specific business.
Actually GlueBug is a brand new company that was just launched in May 2013. As a local entrepreneur, I believe that it is important to have multiple profit ventures. I think of them as building blocks and adding, subtracting and multiplying them is the way to learn and grow. Currently, I am in the development phase of starting a mens underwear line along with possibly holding a manners and etiquette class or workshop in the fall.
Growing up despite what everyone around me was doing or told me to do, I knew I wanted to own my own business. My late father owned his own veterinarian clinic and seeing him work hard and enjoy life was very inspirational to me. I have always had a true passion for photography so naturally that was the path I took. I remember my first paid photo shoot for a graduating senior at my soon to be high school. I was in 8th grade and got paid $12. She loved her photos and raved to her friends. Soon after I had quite the little business going and quickly learned I could charge ten fold for my services. Before long it was a LLC. and I was photographing students, families and pets in my hometown of Eau Claire WI. I felt like the first phases of my business were actually quite stress free, fun and easy. I always knew my true photographic passion was in the high fashion and commercial world so I started working on my portfolio and I soon landed a dream job with the Miss Universe Organization which let me sponsor state pageants and travel to the Bahamas for the Miss Teen USA pageants. That is probably the motivation I needed to keep going after a couple of years.
I am not going to lie, but the ability to sleep in and work from my home office.
My close friend and entrepreneur extrodinare, Daisy has included me in Launchwise from the beginning. I love the energy and enthusiasm I get from the events.
I love running into other photographers who have been able to turn their passion of photography into anything but the ordinary “photography studio” just like I have. I can think of two I have met through Launchwise, one who incorporated publishing and another who has their own creative agency. I think its great to include your passion into other business structures and to push the boundaries and limits of what you love to do.
Let obstacles empower us, not diminish us. Many people never pursue their goals because they don’t understand that hinderances are a normal part of the process. The worst thing you can do is to give up and not try, to be aware of what you want and not reach up and grab it. Never be that person who wondered if that something could have been-and never knowing.
If you didn’t know that I absolutely love to cook, it might be a surprise that my entrepreneurial idol is Ina Garten. I have learned so much about cooking gorgeous, delicious homestyle meals from her techniques and with no formal culinary training, she has created her own empire based off of simple, elegant cooking. With her cookbooks, turned cooking show and now even ready made entrees in the grocery store it is no surprise to me that this self made barefoot contessa is now worth 40mil!
My favorite TV show: The Real Housewives of…anywhere
